Immigration Lawyer Pauline M. Schwartz has over 20 years of experience representing International and Domestic clients in United States Immigration Law Matters, including family and business visas, green cards, citizenship, asylum, Immigration Court removal proceedings, ICE detention and bond, appeals to the BIA, and advising on the immigration consequences of criminal arrests and convictions. She is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia (Washington, DC) and is authorized to practice immigration law in all U.S. states and overseas.
Ms. Schwartz has practiced immigration law exclusively since 1995, after she graduated with Honors from the George Washington University Law School. Ms. Schwartz is also a graduate of the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in both International Relations and Russian.
Ms. Schwartz's commitment to helping immigrants began when she served as a student attorney for the George Washington University Law School's Immigration Clinic. In her first Immigration Court case, she won asylum for a man fleeing from the mass Rwandan genocide in 1994. She identifies very much with the needs of immigrants because her grandfather and great grandparents were immigrants from Eastern Europe and Italy in the early 20th century. Her ancestors came to America for the same reasons that many immigrants do today - seeking religious freedom, political freedom, and for better economic opportunities for themselves and their families.
Ms. Schwartz serves as a mentor to newer lawyers and volunteers in leadership positions within the legal community. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Immigration and Human Rights Committee of the District of Columbia Bar. Ms. Schwartz volunteers on several committees of the American Immigration Lawyers Association's Washington, DC Chapter. She is also an active member of the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and serves as Co-Chair of the WBA's Immigration Law Forum.
Admitted to practice in District of Columbia (Washington DC)
